Landholders and other stakeholders are being encouraged to secure their place at the Western wild dog forum in White Cliffs, with registrations due by Monday, 10 August.
Up to 100 people are expected to attend the free community event, which will bring together landholders, pest management groups, professional trappers and government and non-government organisations to discuss the future of wild dog management across Western NSW.
The forum will be held at the White Cliffs Community Hall on Wednesday, 19 August, from 9am to 5pm.
Organisers say the event is suitable for landholders who are experienced in managing wild dogs, as well as those who are new to dealing with the animals and their impacts.
The independently facilitated program will explore opportunities for more strategic and integrated wild dog management at both local and regional levels.
Breakout sessions will give local landholders the opportunity to share their experiences, discuss barriers to effective wild dog control and provide input into future management programs and services.
Presentations will also be delivered by local landholders involved in pest management groups, professional wild dog trapper Matt Beach from Predator Trapping Australia and National Wild Dog Management Coordinator Greg Misfud.
Representatives from NSW Local Land Services, the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will also take part.
The forum is being supported by local stock and station agents, the Pastoralists Association of West Darling and other community organisations.
The event will be fully catered, making advance registrations important for planning purposes.
Following the forum, attendees are encouraged to remain in White Cliffs for dinner at the White Cliffs Hotel, with the cost of the dinner covered through the forum.
