Residents across Brewarrina, Bourke and Enngonia will have the opportunity to access free legal advice this month when Legal Aid NSW’s Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities and Civil Law Service for Aboriginal Communities return to the region.
The outreach clinics will provide confidential legal assistance on a wide range of issues affecting Aboriginal families and individuals, with community members able to simply drop in and speak with experienced legal staff.
Services available include advice and support relating to parenting arrangements, child protection matters, domestic and family violence, divorce and separation, school attendance issues and assistance for parents seeking to reunite with their children.
Community members can also receive help with housing matters, fines, debts and loans, Centrelink and NDIS issues, complaints against government agencies, discrimination, employment matters, insurance concerns and Stolen Generations compensation claims.
Legal Aid NSW staff will also be available to assist people needing to apply for a Birth Certificate.
No appointment is required to attend any of the clinics, although bookings can be made for those who would prefer a set appointment time.
