Walgett Shire residents are being encouraged to share their experiences and perceptions of safety through a new household survey.
The Study of Perceptions of Safety in Walgett Shire has been commissioned by Walgett Shire Council and is being conducted by independent researchers Dr Kyle Mulrooney, Dr Alistair Harkness and Dr Tarah Hodgkinson from KJDM Consulting.
The survey aims to better understand how residents feel about crime, safety and crime prevention in their neighbourhoods and communities.
Feedback gathered through the survey will help inform recommendations and the development of a future crime prevention plan for consideration by Walgett Shire Council.
The survey takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Respondents can skip questions they are not comfortable answering or stop completing the survey at any time, although residents are encouraged to complete as much of the survey as possible.
Personal identifying information is not required, and responses will be kept confidential and used for research purposes.
Walgett Shire residents are encouraged to take part and help ensure future community safety planning reflects the experiences and concerns of local communities.
