The Dirranbandi Fishing and Restocking Club is gearing up for one of the region’s favourite Easter traditions, with the Annual Easter Fishing Competition set for Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5, 2026.
Held at Jack Dwyer Park along the Balonne River, the event promises a full weekend of fishing, community spirit and plenty of chances to win.
Fishing gets underway from 9am Saturday, with competitors casting their lines across an open fishing area, before the final weigh-in wraps up at midday Sunday.
There are categories and prizes for all ages, including carp and yabbies, along with secret weight categories for cod, yellow belly and catfish. Over the weekend, there’ll be multiple giveaway draws, raffles and cash prizes, keeping the excitement going both on and off the water.
The major prizes are sure to draw attention, with a three-metre tinny boat complete with motor and safety gear up for grabs in the adult category, and a kayak and safety gear for juniors.
Off the river, attendees can enjoy BBQ meals, bar facilities and a relaxed outback atmosphere, making it a great weekend for families and visitors alike.
Entry is $20 for adults, and $10 for pensioners and children aged 15 and under.
Whether you’re a keen angler or just looking for a great Easter weekend out, Dirranbandi is the place to be.
