Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service is marking a major milestone in 2026 — celebrating 40 years of strengthening health, culture and community across the Walgett region.

To honour the occasion, WAMS is hosting a huge Community Day on Friday April 17 at Ricky Walford Oval, promising a full day of entertainment, connection and celebration.

From 10am through to 7pm, the oval will come alive with live music, cultural dancers, market stalls, rides, games, prizes and a spectacular light show to finish the day.

The entertainment line-up includes local musicians and Australian country music legend Roger Knox and award-winning artist Troy Cassar-Daley, bringing world-class talent to the local stage. Families will also love the Bluey Live Interactive Experience, with meet-and-greet opportunities happening throughout the day.

Organisers say the event is all about community, culture and coming together. WAMS remind everyone that it will be a drug and alcohol-free event.

For four decades, Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service has played a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the region. This celebration is a chance for the whole community to recognise that legacy — and look ahead to the future.
