Women in Brewarrina are encouraged to take advantage of free screening when the BreastScreen NSW mobile van visits from Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 March, 2026.

The mobile screening clinic will be located at the Brewarrina Health Service, corner of King and Barwon Streets, making it easy for local women to access this important health service close to home.

BreastScreen NSW provides free screening mammograms for women aged over 40, supporting the early detection of breast cancer. Regular screening is recommended every two years for women in this age group.

Deon Adamson, Manager of BreastScreen NSW (Greater Western), says having regular breast screens is one of the most important steps women can take to protect their health.

“Detecting breast cancer early significantly increases the chance of survival and can reduce the need for invasive treatments such as mastectomy or chemotherapy,” Ms Adamson said.

She also highlighted that around 90 per cent of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history, reinforcing the importance of screening for all eligible women.

“Bringing the BreastScreen NSW van to Brewarrina makes it easier for women to attend their recommended two-yearly screening. Life gets busy, and we want women to prioritise their health.”

Appointments are free, take less than 20 minutes, and no doctor’s referral is required.

The mobile clinic is equipped with a lift system to support women with health conditions or disability. Women with additional needs are encouraged to mention this when booking so appropriate support can be arranged.

Women with a family history of breast cancer should discuss their individual screening needs with their GP. Anyone experiencing breast symptoms is advised to contact their GP or health worker without delay.
