New residents who have arrived in Bourke since the last Welcome to Bourke gathering are warmly invited to take part in a much-loved local tradition, with the 17th Annual Welcome to Bourke Event set to be held in early March.

Hosted by Bourke Shire Council in partnership with the Bourke Rotary Club and the RDA Welcome Project, the event is designed to help newcomers feel at home from day one.

The Welcome to Bourke initiative has become a standout example of community connection, offering new residents the chance to meet locals, access valuable information, and gain local knowledge that makes settling into town that much easier. Its success has even inspired other regional and rural councils to adopt similar programs — something Bourke is rightly proud of.

New residents are encouraged to RSVP their interest at the Back O’ Bourke Information Centre, with further details available on the official event flyer. Local organisations, sporting clubs, community groups and social clubs — including the car club — are also warmly invited to register and take part.

The event will be held at the Back O’ Bourke Café & Gardens on Wednesday 4 March, starting from 6:30pm, with drinks, nibbles and plenty of opportunities to meet people who make Bourke the community it is.
