After a break of more than 20 years, Barb Cunningham is back on air at Outback Radio 2WEB.
Barb became a very popular announcer back in the 1980’s when she regularly presented a program called Country Cream every Tuesday from 9am – 12noon.
She became a volunteer announcer after a short radio training course in 1983 and began working fulltime with 2WEB in the early 1980’s on a drug and alcohol awareness program.
Barb’s partner on the project was James O’Brien and in 1991 the project won a Golden Reel Award at the National Public Radio Awards. Later she presented the breakfast program.
Barb says she always enjoyed working at 2WEB because of the teamwork, and because everyone got along so well.
“I’ve always loved music,” Barb said, “especially country music, and many 2WEB listeners also love country music, so it’s good to be able to share the music on-air”.
“And with the new digital studios at 2WEB it’s so much easier – if you can use a computer you can learn the new studio procedures easily.
“It’s great to be back on-air and its so much easier these days,” Barb said.
You can hear Barb every Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 6pm.
