Wayne Harrison

Wayne came to Bourke from Sydney in 1981 when he was 21 and during this time was trained as a volunteer broadcaster at 2WEB. He returned in late 1982 and became part of the small team during the early days of the service.

He worked in a full time capacity at 2WEB from 1983 to 1988. He spent the following three years as local News Director at 2BH Broken Hill and returned in 1991 to take up another position at 2WEB. During this period, the governing body of 2WEB the W R E B Cooperative purchased 4VL in Charleville Queensland in 1993, Wayne took on the role as Station Manager until early 1995.

The following years included Management and programming roles in Local and International Radio.

In 2014 Wayne and his wife Jan returned back to Bourke after a 20 year absence for Wayne to take on the Role as the General Manager. He loves the people of the west, the colourful characters, the battlers, and the kind hearted folk who would give the shirt off their backs to help those in need. He wants 2WEB to reflect that same wholesome down to earth attitude demonstrated on a daily basis by the valued listeners in our vast region.

Wayne is the host of Outback Mornings 2WEB’S magazine programme 9 – 12 weekdays.
